Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has backed club captain Mark Hudson to have a big impact in the Premier League next season.
The Welsh club were excellent in the Championship last term, winning the league by eight points and conceding just 45 goals in the process.
Central defender Hudson played a key role in Cardiff’s defence as they conceded the fewest goals in the league, claiming the club’s player of the season award.
And Mackay is tipping Hudson’s success to continue in the top flight.
He said: “Mark has been an integral part of my team here for the last two years.
“He’s a great leader for us and is someone who is going to be a big part of everything that is going to be happening for us in the Premier League.
“I think when you sign good professionals as we have done over the last two years then there are aspects of them that just come naturally.
“People like Mark have the desire to do the very best they can in any given situation.”
Hudson is looking forward to testing himself in the Premier League and said his side will be in the division to compete.
“It is exciting times. It’s my fourth year here, so to get there and see what it means to the club is great,” Hudson said.
“It is something we are really looking forward to next year. We’ve got into the best league in the world and we are in there to compete now.”
