Croatia achieved a historic success in Russia by finishing second at the World Cup.
It was a step forward to their 1998 third-place and although they suffered a loss in the final to France, Croatian players were given a heroes’ welcome back home.
More than 100,000 people – and some reports claim there were even 550,000 supporters on the streets of Zagreb – waited patiently for the players on their way from the airport and to the Zagreb main square.
