Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are showing interest in Hamburg midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, the player’s father has revealed.
The Turkish winger has exploded onto the big stage since joining HSV from Karlsruher in the summer and he has caught the eye of Europe’s top clubs in the process.
And even with Hamburg flirting with relegation to the second division, the youngster looks set to stay at Imtech Arena, although it remains to be seen for how long.
Calhanoglu’s father has revealed that Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are among clubs keeping close tabs on the Turkey international.
“We accept Hamburg’s offer for renewal until 2018, but until now we have had ten different clubs interested and Atletico is one of them,” Huseyin Calhanoglu confessed to Spanish daily newspaper AS.
“Real Madrid have even spoken to representative of my son Bektas Demirtas, and think about him for next year.”
Hakan Calhanoglu has been in scintillating form this season, having bagged no less than 10 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances.
Following the home defeat to Wolfsburg, Hamburg could slip to relegation zone after today’s fixtures and they are priced at 4/9 to get relegated to the second division.
