(GSM) – Schalke 04 coach Felix Magath has admitted that clubs interested in signing Kevin Kuranyi are likely to be able to make more attractive offers than his current club.
The former Germany international has enjoyed another prolific campaign for Schalke, netting 18 times in the Bundesliga to generate discussion about a dramatic recall to the Germany team.
But he is out of contract with the Gelsenkirchen outfit at the end of June with reports suggesting that he will leave to join a top European club.
Juventus, Fenerbahce, Dynamo Moskva and Sunderland are among those to be linked with a summer swoop for the 28-year-old and Magath admits they could probably offer him more lucrative deals.
However, Schalke are challenging for the Bundesliga title and Magath is doing everything he can to try and keep Kuranyi.
“If we win the Bundesliga title, I will still be trying to persuade him to stay when we stand together, holding aloft the trophy,” joked the manager.
“Up until last weekend, Kevin was the league’s top scorer.
“He is without a contract and can earn more in other countries.
“If I listen to the things his advisors are saying, I imagine he is getting offers which Schalke can not match.”
