Former Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath has suggested that his managerial career may have ended.
The 59-year-old guided Bayern to consecutive league and cup doubles in 2005 and 2006, also taking Wolfsburg to their maiden Bundesliga title in 2009.
Magath also enjoyed successful spells with Stuttgart and Schalke, leading both into the UEFA Champions League, but was unsuccessful during his second spell with Wolfsburg.
He parted company with the Volkswagen Arena outfit by mutual consent in 2012, and has hinted that he may not return to management.
“You should never say never, but I cannot see myself working again as a coach,” he told Die Welt .
“I cannot see the job that would be so attractive to take me away from my family again. Certainly not in Germany.
“When I was forced to leave Wolfsburg, I wanted to take over another team after a short pause.
“I am not sure whether I want this anymore. Back to that mill of permanent internal and external pressure, back to this partly blind dependence on accidents, on whether player X will hit the ball on the day.”
Magath has never managed outside of Germany, but revealed that he would have liked to manage abroad at some stage in his career.
“I have coached everything from minor leagues to Bayern Munich,” he said.
“I always wanted to go abroad but as a coach you would need to know the language. I speak tolerable English but the tendency of Premier League clubs hiring a German coach is not great.”
