The Daily Star are today reporting that Newcastle have joined the race to sign highly-rated striker Loic Remy from Marseille.
There have been a number of English Premier League clubs interested in Remy who impressed in Ligue 1 last season.
Tottenham had looked to have been leading the way to secure his services, however Alan Pardew is keen to bring him to the Sports Direct Arena.
The Magpies had been linked with a move for former striker Andy Carroll but may not be able to afford the Liverpool man as he was sold for £35 million.
The French side rate their star man at £15 million and are not set to let him go for anything less than this.
Remy will see that there already several French players at Newcastle at the moment, which may be a big factor in the decision as to where he will be playing football next year.
He has scored four times for his national side in 17 appearances so has shown he can score goals at the highest level and now seems ready to take his career to the next level.
It could be a battle between two or three English club’s to sign Remy, making for a fascinating battle.
