Championship side Newcastle United’s Danny Guthrie says that the players will not allow the club’s off-the-field problems to distract them from their promotion drive.

The 22-yeaer-old midfielder has revealed the players set themselves the task of securing an immediate return to the Premier League when they returned to pre-season training despite the uncertainty behind the scenes.

The Magpies head into Sunday’s tough trip to Cardiff sitting at the top of the Championship and determined to still be there after the weekend.

Guthrie said: “On day one, we got together and decided we would have a real good go at this, and the togetherness and camaraderie around the group has been there for everyone to see on the pitch.

“We want to win the league. Every game seems to be difficult in this league. But you have to compete and show a lot of togetherness, which we are doing.”

Born & raised a Geordie, I know how heavy hearted every Newcastle fan is feeling. They eat & breath Football and a second Division Magpies is not good eneough for them.

Granted the team have been pulled through the lawn mower the last couple of season but you can only blame one person and thank God… He has put the club up for sale.

Newcastle need to be bought by a rich Saudi who once they get back to the Premiersjip (next year) can by the big names and make the fans happy.

Good Luck Newcastle. Kevin The Brit
