Maguire says Leicester stay was ‘easy’ decision

Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has revealed that signing a contract extension with the club was an easy decision. There’s been a great deal of speculation over his future throughout the course of the summer transfer window, with many believing that he’d leave the former Premier League champions. Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for Maguire as one of Jose Mourinho’s primary defensive targets, but they failed to land their man.

The interest in Maguire really ramped up during the World Cup, after he was able to put in a series of great performances that helped England to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

Maguire was speaking ahead of England’s game against Switzerland, as Gareth Southgate continues to try and lead his squad towards an unlikely triumph either in the Euros or the next World Cup. Given his age, Maguire will likely play a big role in the next few tournaments if he can keep up his current form.
