According to a recent report from France Football who took part in an interview with Riyad Mahrez, the Algerian star came close to joining Arsenal back in 2016. Mahrez went in-depth during the interview and claimed that he missed out on two years of playing at the highest level as a result of Leicester not wanting to sell him and, therefore, keeping him at the club. Mahrez is now with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, but while things seem to be going pretty well for the attacking midfielder at this moment in time, it certainly seems as if he’s struggling to lock down a permanent place in the starting XI.
Foxes fans certainly won’t be happy about him kicking out at his former club, but you’d think that Arsenal supporters will be even less impressed with their side’s inability to get a deal of this magnitude over the finish line.
