Leicester City key man Riyad Mahrez has refused to be drawn into commenting the possibility of joining Spanish champions Barcelona during the summer transfer window.
Riyad Mahrez, who was named English football’s player of the year by the Professional Footballers’ Association on Sundays has been recently praised by Barcelona legend Xavi, who has described the 25-year-old as a player who could be a worthy signing for the Catalan club.
Leicester City winger thanked Barcelona winger for his kind words, but refused to be drawn into speculation regarding his future.
Mahrez has been linked with Barcelona during the January transfer window and the Catalans are believed to be ready to step up their interest to sign the 25-year-old during the summer market.
“I do not want to talk too much about it because it could be misinterpreted.”, El Mundo Deportivo reported.
Riyad Mahrez has been Leicester City’s mainstay this season, amassing 34 Premier League appearances this season, adding 17 goals in the process, including one in his club’s most recent 4-0 triumph over Swansea City.
Leicester City are on course to clinch the historic Premier League title, which could be secured this weekend with a win at Old Trafford.
