Brazilian full-back Douglas Maicon could be leaving Stadio Olimpico at the end of the current season, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The veteran defender recently agreed a one-year extension to his contract that was due to expire in the summer, but a lot has changed since.
Having missed a large chunk of the current campaign through injury, Maicon is no longer considered an important member of the squad at Stadio Olimpico and he may be allowed to leave come end of the season.
And with Roma reportedly agreeing to sign Bruno Peres from Torino, they might even be prepared to rescind the player’s contract in June.
Maicon, 33, has made a total of 42 Serie A appearances since joining from Manchester City, scoring 3 goals in the process.
Roma play host to Atalanta later today, hoping to cement the final Champions League berth and they are 4/9 to emerge victorious.
