Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne are set to launch an assault on West Ham striker Modibo Maiga, talkSPORT has revealed.
The 26-year-old joined the Hammers from Sochaux in the summer of 2012, but has utterly failed to prove his worth at Boleyn Ground.
After largely struggling for playing time last term, Maiga was given an opportunity to impress after Andy Carroll picked up an injury.
However, having failed to score a single goal in six Premier League starts this season, the Malian attacker appears set to be offloaded in January.
talkSPORT has claimed that Saint Etienne are looking to take advantage of the situation, with les Verts preparing a £1.5 million bid for the player’s services.
The interesting thing is that the Ligue 1 side were on the verge of signing Carlton Cole this summer, but they eventually puled out of the deal, with the striker in turn signing a new short-term deal with the Hammers.
