Competition: Bundesliga
Market: Under 2.5 goals at Mainz vs Freiburg
Odds: 4/7 @ Bet365
Two teams that are battling it out at the foot of the Bundesliga table, on Monday night, Mainz will welcome fellow strugglers Freiburg to the Opel Arena.
For Sandro Schwarz’s Mainz side, currently on a run of form that has seen them pick up just two wins in their last 15 matches in all competitions, the O-Fives now find themselves sat 16th in the Bundesliga table. While the Reds may sit eight points clear of the drop zone, Schwarz’s side have begun to drastically struggle at both ends of the pitch. Along with only managing to record a single clean sheet in their last six appearances, Mainz have now only managed to find the net just once in their last five. Their recent struggles in the final third can be put down to Japanese forward Yoshinori Muto, the 25-year-old is the clubs top scorer with just seven goals this year and has only one goal in his last eight outings.
As for Christian Streich’s Freiburg side, after securing an impressive seventh-place finish last season and only missing out on European football by a single point, much like their hosts on Monday night, the Whites are now one place above Mainz in table and are having their own problems in the final third. Also on a six-match winless run, Streich’s side have scored just one in their last five and while forward Nils Petersen is the third top scorer in the Bundesliga, the German international now has just one goal in his last five Bundesliga outings.
