(GSM) – Feyenoord striker Roy Makaay will quit professional football after this season, bringing to an end a career that brought him 253 goals over 17 seasons at five clubs.

The 35-year-old forward, who scored six international goals in 43 appearances for the Netherlands, announced Monday he will become a youth trainer at the club next season.

Makaay started his career at Vitesse before he moved to Spain, playing first for Tenerife and then Deportivo La Coruna. He also played for Bayern Munchen before moving to Feyenoord three years ago.
