Malaga closing in on Sporting Gijon’s Jony

According to Spanish daily As, Malaga are on verge of securing their first signing for the 2016-17 season.

Jonathan Rodriguez Menendez, commonly referred to as Jony, is close to agreeing a deal with the Spanish outfit and securing a move to La Rosaleda in the summer.

The 24-year-old Spanish international will become a free agent in June and Malaga have been negotiating the terms with the Sporting Gijon winger in order to persuade him to join the La Liga club.

Jony has started his career in Oviedo, but this player was part of Barcelona’s youth set-up as well.

In 2014 he singed for Sporting Gijon where he has made 20 appearances this season, recording three assist and two goals in the process.

Last season Jony made 38 appearances in the Segunda Division and was one of the key players to earn his team the promotion back to the top tier with his seven goals.
