Malaga readying bid for Dos Santos
Mexican forward Giovani dos Santos could become Malaga’s first signing of the summer, according to AS.
The Mexican international desperately wants to leave Tottenham in search of first team football, as he confirmed earlier today.
AS reports that Malaga are keen on the 23-year-old and los Boquerones are expected to make an official bid for the player’s services.
Malaga sporting department led by Antonio Fernandez contacted the player in Marbella, where he is preparing for the 2012 Olympics with Mexico, and learned that he would be interested in a move to La Rosaleda.
The La Liga side would have to pay around €6 million for the highly rated attacker.
Dos Santos has seen his career take a turn for the worse soon after he completed a switch to White Hart Lane, but a successful loan spell at Racing Santander and some impressive showings for the national team helped him further establish himself as one of the most talented forwards in world football.
The Mexican now desperately needs regular playing time in order to kick-start his career and a move to Malaga could benefit his development.
Aston Villa close in on Ron Vlaar
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf has revealed that Feyenoord captain Ron Vlaar is on the verge of joining Aston Villa.
The English Premier League side have already signed Karim El Ahmadi from Feyenoord this summer, but they don’t plan to stop there.
According to De Telegraaf, Aston Villa are close to reaching an agreement with the Dutch giants over the transfer of Ron Vlaar.
The Dutch international yesterday visited Villa Park to negotiate personal terms with the Premier League club and the transfer could be wrapped up before the end of the week.
The 27-year-old centre-back has spent last six and a half seasons at De Kuyp, although he missed almost two years through a knee ligament injury.
Vlaar was part of the Netherlands squad at the European Championship and featured in two of the three group games.
Lyon and Lille vying for French hotshot
French giants Lyon and Lille are showing interest in Troyes full-back Djibril Sidibe, according to L’Equipe.
The 19-year-old defender has been attracting a lot of attention with his showings in the second division last season and he is now followed by top clubs from Ligue 1.
The talented defender helped his hometown club gain promotion to the elite division, but it looks as though he is now set to leave Troyes.
L’Equipe reveals that Lille already had a €1.5 million bid for the player’s services rejected last week, with club president Daniel Masoni requesting around €2 million.
Lyon have also joined the race for the French Under-20 international, but les Gones have yet to make an official offer.
Djibril Sidibe had largely impressed in his first season as a first team regular, scoring 1 goal in 34 Ligue 2 appearances.
