Malaga are set to complete the signing of Panama defender Roberto Chen from San Francisco, Marca has learned.
Los Boquerones have continued their summer recruitment by signing the talented defender from San Francisco, having paid around €400,000 for his services.
The 19-year-old will sign a three-year contract at La Rosaleda subject to passing a medical, before he joins his new teammates for pre-season training.
Roberto Chen caught the eye of Malaga scouts while playing for Panama at the 2013 Gold Cup and los Boquerones wasted no time in luring him to Spain. He can operate as a centre-back or right-back and reportedly possesses very good technical skills.
Several other clubs had expressed interest in the highly rated defender, but he ultimately opted for a switch to La Liga.
Chen is set to become club’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window, following in the footsteps of Roque Santa Cruz, Fernando Tissone, Marcos Angeleri, Flavio Ferreira and Bobley Anderson.
