Nancy midfielder Samba Diakite has agreed to join Queen Park Rangers on loan until the end of the season, president of the French club has revealed.
QPR boss Mark Hughes decided to enter the market in search for a new central midfielder after Alejandro Faurlin had picked up a serious injury and it seems that he has already found him a replacement.
The Premier League side recently expressed their interest in signing Nancy star Samba Diakite and they had no problems agreeing a loan deal until the end of the season.
The player is currently with Mali on Africa Cup of Nations duty, but he has been given permission to travel to England and complete his loan.
“Alain Giresse, coach of Mali, agreed that Samba could go to England to complete his loan,” Nancy president Jacques Rousselot told L’Equipe.
“It will be a loan with an option to buy if QPR are still in the Premier League at the end of the season.”
L’Equipe claims that the two clubs have agreed a fee of €4 million for the permanent deal, although Diakite would first have to prove his potential at Loftus Road.
The 23-year-old started his professional career at Nancy and has since become a very important player for the Ligue 1 side.
Diakite made his national team debut in the 1:0 Africa Cup of Nations victory over Guinea, while he started the second group game as well.
