Market: Malky Mackay to be next Crystal Palace manager
Odds: 6/4 @ Ladbrokes
Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is the bookies’ favourites to be the next man at the helm of Crystal Palace after Tony Pulis resigned from his post this summer.
Mackay was previously in charge of the Bluebirds last season, but lost his job with the club due to a fallout with owner Vincent Tan over an apparent overspend of transfer funds and complaints about playing style.
Early reports suggested up to 30 managers and coaches wanted to be considered for the vacant position at Palace, with the likes of Neil Lennon, David Moyes, Nigel Adkins and even Stuart McCall among the favourites to replace Pulis.
Caretaker manager Keith Millen also hinted that he would be interested in the full-time position, but Ladbrokes are giving odds of 6/4 for Mackay to be given the nod due to his similarities to Pulis.
Both managers favour a defence-first approach, and ensure the club in question are boasting good defensive records in their home games to boost their survival hopes.
