Malouda keen on Chelsea stay

Chelsea winger Florent Malouda has declared that he would like to remain with the Premier League club next season.

The French international has made 149 appearances and scored 35 goals since arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2007.

Despite featuring prominently under Carlo Ancelloti, he has found his playing time limited this season firstly by Andres Villas-Boas, and then by caretaker manager Roberto Di Matteo, leading to speculation he may leave this summer.

When asked if he wanted to remain at the club, Malouda said: “Yes, and Chelsea know it.

“During the last two transfer windows, the club have said that I was not available for transfer. I knew at the beginning of the season I would not play all that often.

“This season has reminded of my first season at Chelsea. You have to accept it. I finished the previous campaign as Chelsea’s leading scorer in the league and I started the next season on the bench.”

Malouda is currently preparing for Euro 2012 with the rest of the France squad, fresh from securing a Champions League winners medal after appearing from the bench in the victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

The Frenchman can now add European success to his domestic honours of one league title and three FA Cups and it is the opportunity to win more trophies which is fundamental in Malouda’s ambition to stay at the club.

“In five years at Chelsea, I have won five trophies, the ones that I came here to try and win,” he said.

“The European Super Cup and the Club World Cup are two competitions close to my heart.”
