Spanish media outlet Cadena COPE has suggested that Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign French defender Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid.
The Citizens had a €50 million proposal accepted by the Spanish side, but the deal will only be completed if los Colchoneros see their transfer ban lifted and are allowed to sign a replacement for the 21-year-old centre-back.
Man City manager Pep Guardiola has decided to shake up his defensive options and Lucas Hernandez surprisingly emerged as one of his top targets.
The highly rated youngster so far only made 26 La Liga appearances for Atletico Madrid, but showed a great deal of potential in the process, and also impressed in 8 Champions League outings.
Spurs full-back Kyle Walker is another high-profile footballer on Man City radar, but it remains to be seen whether the Citizens will be able to find an agreement with their title rivals.
