Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea are among clubs showing interest in FC Basel forward Derlis Gonzalez, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 21-year-old became a real star for Paraguay after scoring from the penalty spot in regulation time, before netting the winning penalty in the shoot-out to help La Albirroja eliminate Brazil in the 2015 Copa America quarter-finals.
Gonzalez soon learned of the death of his uncle, who had suffered a heart attack while watching the game, and he is now being linked with a big club move.
Namely, Manchester City and Chelsea reportedly lead the chase for his services, while Juventus and Fiorentina are keen as well.
Despite his fragile age, the 21-year-old already has substantial experience, having made 102 appearances in Paraguay’s top flight, scoring 31 goals.
The winger was in fine form during his debut season with FC Basel, bagging 6 goals and producing 10 assists in 35 competitive outings.
