Premier League giants Manchester City are hot on the trail of Sevilla starlet Jose Maria Amo, the Daily Mirror has suggested.
The 17 year old defender first came to the Citizens’ attention while playing for Spain Under-16 side last year and they have been closely monitoring his performances ever since.
Amo is widely regarded as one of Spain’s hottest prospects and he has been likened to Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
Manchester City officials watched the youngster in action last weekend as he played for Sevilla Atletico in Spain’s third tier.
The Citizens aim to take advantage of the fact that Amo has yet to sign his first professional contract, with Sevilla desperate to tie down the talented footballer as early as possible.
Los Rojiblancos chiefs are currently in talks with the player’s agent, while Manchester City are expected to make their interest concrete in the coming days as well.
