The Mirror is reporting that Manchester City have joined the race for Southampton stopper Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutch defender is one of Premier League’s hottest commodities and he was close to joining Liverpool in the summer.
The Reds remain hot on his trail, but they could now face stiff competition from Premiership leaders Manchester City.
Namely, the Citizens also plan to add more bodies to their back line and Pep Guardiola sees Van Dijk as a potentially great addition to the squad.
With the player eager to leave for greener pastures, Southampton may have no choice but to sell to the highest bidder.
After winning all four group games, Manchester City can be backed at 19/4 to lift the first ever Champions League trophy.
