According to Turkish outlet Fotospor, Manchester City will try and sign Caglar Soyuncu from Leicester City in January.
Manager Pep Guardiola and his team are going through a defensive crisis at the moment, with Aymeric Laporte and John Stones both out injured and no replacement arriving during the summer for the departed Vincent Kompany. Their only fit centre-back at the moment is Nicolas Otamendi, and Guardiola has been forced to put 34-year-old midfielder Fernandinho next to the Argentine. He will therefore be looking to bolster his options in the heart of defence, and Soyuncu seems to be his preferred choice.
Soyuncu started his career at Turkish side Altinordu, for which he made 40 appearances over two seasons before moving to SC Freiburg in 2017. Prior to his arrival to the King Power Stadium, the 23-year-old was heavily linked with Arsenal, but last summer he signed a five-year deal with the Foxes.
Judging by the transfer of Harry Maguire to Manchester United this summer, it seems Leicester know how to get their players’ worth in the market and then some, but there is very little doubt that the Premier League champions would be able to afford getting the player they want.
