According to a recent report from Record, Manchester City are edging closer and closer towards completing the signing of Joao Cancelo from Juventus. The right back is widely considered to be one of the most intriguing defenders in world football today, mainly due to his inconsistency. He is expected to cost upwards of £50 million and has put in a series of impressive performances with Juve up to this point. Despite that, he has struggled to maintain that consistency ever since making the jump over from Valencia which has been viewed as one of his biggest issues. At City you’d have to imagine he won’t be able to feature in the starting XI on an overly consistent basis, given the strength in depth they possess as well as the standard squad rotation.
Cancelo is a world class talent, though, and it’ll be interesting to see how he fits into a club like City’s.
