Spanish newspaper Eldesmarque claims Premier League champions Manchester City have set sights on highly-rated Real Betis defender Junior Firpo.
The Citizens are said to have followed the 22-year-old for a couple of months now with reports claiming that Pep Guardiola has been amazed by his qualities. Manchester City are reportedly willing to pay his £54 million release clause in order to bring his to Etihad in January.
Firpo made a stellar rise to prominence after first breaking into the Real Betis’ first-team in February. Since then, he went on to score two goals in 15 La Liga appearances.
Best deployed at a left-back position, Junior Firpo likes to burst forward and support the forward line which is a trait highly valued by Pep Guardiola.
The exciting Dominican only signed his contract extension last month with Real Betis inserting a hefty release clause hoping it would keep suitors at bay.
