Manchester City are interested in signing Fabian Ruiz from Napoli, according to The Guardian.
The report claims that the Premier League champions are actually stepping up their interest by sending scouts to watch the midfielder in Napoli’s triumph over RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday. Likened in style to David Silva, City will soon be in need of a long-term replacement for the Spaniard, and they obviously consider his 23-year-old compatriot as a good candidate to be a future partner to Phil Foden in the middle of the park.
Napoli signed Ruiz from Real Betis in 2018 for €30 million and they certainly won’t be parting with with him for a small price, especially if the reports about them being determined to keep him for the long term are to be believed. Quite apart from that side of the financial aspect, City are apparently facing competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, which can only drive the price further up.
