Man City keen on Tiote

Daily Mail has learned that Manchester City are weighing up a summer bid for Newcastle star Cheick Tiote.

The mere fact Manuel Pellegrini used Martin Demichelis as a holding midfielder in the high-profile clash against Chelsea is enough to suggest the Chilean is not satisfied with his current midfield options that include Javi Garcia and Jack Rodwell.

And while Fernandinho has largely impressed since arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk, Pellegrini hopes to sign another quality defence-minded midfielder in the summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the Manchester City boss has identified Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote as his primary target.

The Ivorian has continued to impress at St James’ Park, and there is a chance he would be interested in a switch to Etihad.

Manchester City sit three points behind Premiership leaders Chelsea, but also have a game in hand and can be backed at 7/5 to lift the Premier League title come end of the season.
