Aston Villa were granted permission to talk with Brad Fridel after Blackburn Rovers finalized a deal for Tottenham’s Paul Robinson on Friday. But, it now looks like Martin O’Neill will have to ward off stiff competition to the signing of the American goalkeeper.
According to a report in The Telegraph, Manchester City are interested in Brad Fridel and are planning to make a move for the veteran shot-stopper.
Martin O’Neill is desperate to bring in a goalkeeper after he lost both Sorensen and Carson this summer; but Mark Hughes might not be too pleased with his option in the goalkeeping department either.
Manchester City have lost Andreas Issakson this summer and are left only with youngsters Joe Hart and Kasper Schmeichel between the posts.
