Manchester City are one of the clubs that have been offered the chance to sign Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati, according to El Nacional.
There were rumours about the 18-year-old forward being offered to both Manchester clubs over the summer as Barcelona tried to strengthen their shaky financial position, but club president Joan Laporta denied such suggestions a few days ago. The fact that Fati now wears the No.10 shirt at Barcelona, previously donned by Lionel Messi, goes a long way in backing Laporta up.
However, it seems City were indeed offered the chance to sign Fati, but not by Barcelona. It was apparently the work of Jorge Mendes, the agent who represents Fati, in an attempt to force Barcelona into giving the player a stronger contract. As things stand, Fati’s current deal runs until the end of this season, but the club have the option of extending it by further two years.
