Man City planning £25m bid for Lyon striker

Manchester City are planning a £25million bid for Lyon striker Karim Benzema, according to the People.

It is believed Lyon want closer to £35million for the highly rated hitman, who City boss Mark Hughes has put on the top of his target list for the January transfer window.

City are ready to offer the 20-year-old French striker a deal that will see him earn £100,000-a-week.

Mark Hughes has plenty of money to spend on new players, following the take-over by an Arab group of investors.

Despite signing Robinho for a British record fee of £32.5million, City is keen to continue their spending in January in order to secure a place in the Champions League for next season.
