Manchester City should try and sign Caglar Soyuncu from Leicester City, Ilkay Gundogan believes.
Soyuncu has arguably been the revelation of the season in the Premier League as he stepped into the void left by the departure of Harry Maguire to Manchester United last summer and paired up with former United defender Jonny Evans, with many considering Leicester’s back line now in a better shape than it ever was with Maguire there. On the other hand, City suffered greatly due to injury keeping Aymeric Laporte out of action for a large portion of the current campaign, following the departure of Vincent Kompany last summer.
As relayed by a number of outlets in England, Gundogan spoke to Fanatik and praised Soyuncu’s exploits this season, naming him second only to Liverpool’s Ballon d’Or runner-up Virgil van Dijk in his position this term and the first name of Turkish football he would like to see move to the Etihad.
The 23-year-old defender has indeed been linked with the defending Premier League champions ahead of the January transfer window, but Leicester were adamant he was going nowhere, while some reports suggested there was no real interest in the first place.
