One of the most prominent jewels inside the famed Barcelona football academy La Masia, Marc Cucurella, is thought to be on his way towards Manchester City.
According to Marca, the Citizens have emerged as firm favourites to grab the highly-rated 18-year-old left-back, who has also been watched by Borussia Dortmund.
Cucurella is yet to sign the professional contract with reigning La Liga champions Barcelona and Manchester City are attempting to lure him to Etihad and sign him for free once his current deal with the Catalans expires this summer.
Manchester City are thought to be in the market for a long-term solution at left-back and a younger alternative for Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy. The Manchester City left-backs are about to run out of contract themselves so the Citizens have an important job in front of them in sorting this out.
Citizens’ hopes of landing the widely sought-after left-back have been increased due to Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain’s close relations to Barcelona of course.
