Manchester City are on the lookout for players to reinforce their midfield as they prepare for captain David Silva and Fernandinho to leave the club at the end of season after 10 and six years at the Etihad, respectively. With the creative side of the team well-stocked through the likes of Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez both capable of replacing David Silva, one of the candidates they are contemplating at the moment is Brescia’s Sandro Tonali, who would potentially provide cover and competition for Rodri in doing defensive tasks, once Fernandinho is gone.
According to Sky Sports, City have sent scouts to observe the performance of the 19-year-old senior Italy international when Brescia, who are currently bottom of the Serie A table, take on AS Roma today (Sunday) at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
However, reports in Italy have named Juventus, Napoli, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain as clubs also interested in Tonali’s services, so the Premier League champions look set to face stiff competition for his signature.
