AZ Alkmaar midfielder Adam Maher has hinted that he is prepared to snub an interest from Manchester City in favour of remaining in Dutch Eredivisie.
The highly rated midfielder is looking to leave his current employers for a big club, with a number of European giants believed to be keen.
Manchester City were rumoured to be leading the race for the talented footballer, but the player himself says that he will only join a club that can guarantee him regular playing time.
“Playing time is the most important for me,” the Netherlands international explained to Algemeen Dagblad.
He then hinted that a move to Eredivisie giants Ajax could be on the cards after they edged closer to the league title.
“It can be decided by which club ensure Champions League football. That’s the level that I want to play at. And yes, Ajax have taken a good step with that victory (3-2 triumph over PSV).”
Adam Maher, 19, has been in fine form this season, scoring 6 goals and producing 5 assists in 27 Eredivisie matches.
He has made two appearances for Netherlands in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, while featuring in another two friendly games.
