Manchester City could decide to offer Sergio Aguero a new contract, according to a latest report from the Mirror.
The Argentinian, who arrived to the club in 2011 and has so far scored 254 goals and laid on 73 assists in 370 appearances in all competitions, is currently absent with a knee injury and the date of his return to the pitch remains unknown. His nine years at the Etihad so far have seen him spend time on the sidelines with relative frequency, but when fit, there has never been any question of him being the greatest threat City’s potent attacking line possesses.
Gabriel Jesus, who was signed in January 2017 with a view of becoming his long-term successor, is yet to prove to manager Pep Guardiola that he is the right man for the job. City could turn to the transfer market for a new striker this summer, but if Aguero comes back and continues his high-quality performances, they could yet decide to offer the 32-year-old a one-year extension on his current contract which expires next summer.
