According to a recent report from Sky Sports News, Manchester City will not be ‘held to ransom’ by Spanish club Atletico Madrid over the possible signing of Rodri. The Spanish midfielder is considered to be high on the list of potential replacements for Fernandinho, who is expected to start winding down in the next year or two. He is considered to be one of City’s most effective players, so of course, they need to replace him very carefully.
City are one of the primary clubs in Europe that are leading the race for his signature, but they aren’t interested in getting into a bidding war that would take them above Rodri’s scheduled release clause. That fee is believed to be around £60.6 million which would break their transfer record, which was set with the signing of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City during the summer transfer window last year.
Either way, it seems like this saga is far from over.
