Man United after a right-back in January

Manchester United will be in the market for a new right-back when the January transfer window opens, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Though Diogo Dalot is playing at a fantastic level this season and manager Erik ten Hag is obviously happy with the Portugal international, the Dutch tactician believes another player in the position is needed to provide quality cover or even competition for the role in the starting XI. There doesn’t seem to be room for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in his plans anymore, and the fate of the former Crystal Palace defender will be decided soon. There have been reports about Palace’s interest in re-signing the 24-year-old.

One of the options considered by the 20-time English champions was to try and sign Sergino Dest, currently on loan at AC Milan from Barcelona, but the 22-year-old USA international is not expected to be available for transfer in January.
