Man United and Dortmund working on Sancho-Malen swap

According to German outlet SportBild, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are currently contemplating a potential swap deal that would see Jadon Sancho leave Old Trafford and return to the Signal Iduna Park, and Donyell Malen move in the opposite direction.

United paid a whopping fee of €85 million to sign Sancho from Dortmund in 2021, but when Erik ten Hag took charge of the team, the 23-year-old gradually lost his trust, and the issue culminated at the start of this season when an ill-advised social media post got Sancho out of first-team contention completely. A move away from the club appears to be the only way out of the situation for the winger, and a return to Dortmund might prove the best way to do it.

Meanwhile, Malen has been linked with a Premier League move for a while, and it seems Sancho’s problems might just offer him the chance to finally get there. With 28 caps as a Netherlands international, the 24-year-old winger has so far made 19 appearances for Dortmund this season, recording five goals and two assists.

The Bundesliga club apparently demand €30m – or Sancho – to let Malen leave.
