Manchester United were strongly linked with Erling Haaland before the young striker made his way from RB Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund in January 2020, and the British press don’t appear to be giving up on the story. They pressed United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the matter during his pre-match conference ahead of United’s second-leg Europa League clash with Real Sociedad on Thursday, and the Norwegian has revealed that he is in contact with his young compatriot.
Haaland has so far netted 43 goals in as many games for Dortmund, with 10 assists to his name as well. Mino Raiola, his agent, recently stated that only 10 clubs around the world can afford to sign the 20-year-old striker, four of which are in the Premier League. If so, Manchester United are certainly among them.
However, being in contact with Haaland is all that Solskjaer was willing to reveal. Other than that, he said it would’ve been disrespectful to talk about a player belonging to Dortmund.
