Manchester United are delaying their decision about letting Sergio Romero leave in the January transfer window until they decide whether to allow Dean Henderson to spend the second half of the season somewhere on loan, according to the Mirror.
Romero was angry at the end of the summer window when it became obvious he would stay at the club and drop to number three choice between the posts, behind regular starter David De Gea and Henderson, who spent 2019/20 on loan at Sheffield United and impressed. With several clubs interested in the services of the experienced Argentina international, United have apparently been considering a deal to let him join Everton on loan.
However, Henderson is now keen on regular game-time as he seeks a fair shot at being England’s number one in the upcoming European championship, and he wants to go on another loan himself for the second half of the campaign. His potential departure would obviously affect Romero, who would then be forced to stay put in the same role he’s been performing for five years – a backup for De Gea.
