Manchester United have held talks with Christian Eriksen of Tottenham Hotspur over a potential transfer in January, according to Spanish outlet El Desmarque.
The Danish international has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, with a number of reports claiming that Los Blancos saw him as a suitable candidate for a long-term successor to Luka Modric, along with United’s Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek of Ajax. However, it now appears that Eriksen is tired of waiting for Real to make their decision and act, and he’s already considering alternative destinations.
The 27-year-old has therefore held talks with United, and would perhaps be willing to make the switch to Old Trafford in January. It would certainly suit Spurs as well, at least more than losing him for free when his contract expires in the summer.
Eriksen’s performances lately haven’t been up his usual standards, and it is believed that whatever was happening over the summer has thoroughly unsettled him, but Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino claims the attacking midfielder is as focused as ever.
