The January transfer window has thrown up some stunning and intriguing moves, but now that it has slammed shut we are back to swirling rumours and suggestions. This particular one concerns managers, which is arguably more interesting than player rumours given how ruthless the market is for coaches.
Unsurprisingly it is Manchester United who are at the centre of things, and the club’s hierarchy have identified Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager, according to the Sun, despite Jose Mourinho recently signing a contract extension to take him to 2020.
The Spurs coach has established himself as one of the top managers in Europe during his time in North London, despite not winning any silverware, and it is little surprise that he is wanted by the Red Devils.
The news comes after Tottenham defeated United 2-0 in midweek, totally outplaying and outclassing the Manchester club. While Pochettino hasn’t been able to secure any titles with Spurs, the financial firepower of United could certainly attract his attention in the near future.
