Manchester United are looking to boost the competition at right-back in their squad and they are interested in signing Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid, according to Sky Sports.
The 30-year-old was once a Manchester City player at youth level and played for Burnley as well, and he joined Atletico from Tottenham Hotspur on a three-year deal in the summer of 2019. It means he will be entering the final 12 months of the deal at the end of this season, and that’s something United will be hoping to take advantage of.
Trippier has so far played in 16 games in all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side – 10 in La Liga and six in the Champions League, with no goals but with three assists to his name. Atletico currently top the La Liga table with 26 points.
It would certainly be interesting to see if the 23-time England international would be open to the possibility of returning to Manchester after only two years in the Spanish capital.
