Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly keen on RB Leipzig central defender Dayot Upamecano as a long-term solution to some of their defensive issues, according to the Express.
The French defender has made 17 appearances for the German club, despite only being 19 years old, and his form has caught the eye of a few of Europe’s top clubs. Reports from Italy suggest that AC Milan will be United’s biggest rivals in the race to secure Upamecano’s signature.
Jose Mournho’s side find themselves second in the Premier League table after 10 games, five points behind their city rivals. Despite having only conceded four times in the league this season, United’s defence has had its issues. Victor Lindelof, who made the switch to Manchester from Benfica in the summer, has had a disappointing start to his career under Mourinho and Upamecano is already being lined up as a potential replacement.
The up and coming centre half certainly has the potential to develop into a world class defender and could play an important role in the heart of Manchester United’s defence for many years to come, assuming he does make the move to England.
