By the end of the season Premier League giants Manchester United will likely be without two important central midfielders – Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick – as the pair’s contracts are both set to expire in the summer.
It is little surprise then that manager Jose Mourinho is already in the market for a replacement, and Napoli’s Jorginho is the man at the top of his list, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Jorginho has made 16 appearances for Napoli, who current lead the Serie A by four points over rivals Juventus, though the Old Lady does have a game in hand. With two goals and three assists so far this season, the midfielder has been an important presence, and has impressed with his remarkable range of passing.
United meanwhile are fighting to secure second spot in the Premier League, having already allowed eternal rivals Manchester City to gain a 15-point lead after 20 games. The addition of Jorginho would likely allow the Red Devils to put up more of a challenge next season, and minimise the impact of losing Carrick and Fellaini.
