Manchester United are ready to offer Juan Mata in exchange for AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, according to the Sunday People.
The Spaniard is no longer guaranteed a starting berth following the arrival of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao, and there is a chance he will be offloaded in January.
And with Manchester United still desperate to sign Kevin Strootman from Roma, they hope Mata will accept to move to Stadio Olimpico as part of the deal that should see the Netherlands international join the Red Devils.
The Old Trafford outfit could face competition for Strootman from Real Madrid, who are believed to be keen as well, but Louis van Gaal is confident he can persuade the player to move to England instead.
Juan Mata, 26, only joined Manchester United from Chelsea in January, and he did fairly well at the start of his career at Old Trafford, making 18 Premier League appearances and scoring 7 goals.
