While Premier League giants Manchester United are still leading the race for a second place finish in the English top flight this season, they haven’t looked at all convincing in an attacking sense for much of this season. That feeling comes despite their acquisition of Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window, especially as the Chilean has yet to settle in as part of Jose Mourinho’s side.
The Red Devils also look set to lose a number of midfielders, with Michael Carrick looking to retire and the futures of both Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera in doubt. Mourinho’s very public spat with Paul Pogba has also created rumours surrounding the Frenchman’s future, so there is little surprise that the veteran coach is in the market for a playmaker.
Real Madrid star Isco has been linked with a switch to Manchester for some time, but, according to the Manchester Evening News, United are now considering a colossal £176m bid for the Spanish international.
Isco has registered five goals and four assists in 21 La Liga appearances this season, and there is little doubt of the midfielder’s world class potential.
