Manchester United have reached a full verbal agreement to sign Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley for the remaining part of the season, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Apparently, agreeing the deal with Burnley or with Weghorst himself was never a problem for United, but Besiktas, where the 6’5” striker was supposed to spend the whole season on loan, weren’t keen on the idea of losing his services halfway through. They insisted that their consent was necessary for the Weghorst to join United, and that hurdle has now been cleared. However, not only will United have to pay €3 million to Besiktas if the move happens, but it also depends on the Turkish club signing a suitable replacement.
The 30-year-old has scored nine goals in 18 matches in all club competitions since joining Besiktas last summer, and had a fine World Cup campaign, scoring twice against Argentina in the quarterfinals.
